More than twenty second-generation Optifloc units are already in service worldwide. The new Optifloc embodies a number of performance improvements, building on more than a decade of solid, reliable performance. These include:

- a flushing facility that keeps the seal free of hair and other fouling agents
- a more robust mechanical seal
- more powerful motors, and a VFD to allow variable speeds up to 1,800 r.p.m.
